Generac is usually known for quality power tools and the 6022 is not the exception to this notion. Powered by a 196cc OHV Generac engine with a set of quick-click spray tips, it offers plenty of versatility in terms of pressure output. A 25 feet hose with a maximum of 2700 PSI and 2.3 GPM generation give this a competitive edge in the semi-pro class of pressure washers. In fact, the welded frame, built-in step starting and easy gun holster to keep the wand tucked into are all additional features not found elsewhere. It features an axial cam pump design that is backed by a 2-year warranty covering the rest of the pressure washer components too. Leaders in power generation, Generac has designed this pressure washer to automatically shut down upon sensing movement or if the trigger is released.

Ease Of Use: 4/5

I simply cannot deduct any points for Ease of use. In fact, the Generac 6022 is a user-friendly pressure washer with a detailed instruction manual. Fitting the hose, starting it up, moving it around and storing it or winterization, all are properly described in the manual and easy to follow too. Moreover, because of its durable design, you never have to be too careful when using the pressure washer. The only place where I think Generac could have done better is in the placement of the hose connection and the exhaust ports so close by.

Noise: 4/5

Almost all gas pressure washers are noisy as hell but the Generac 6022 is actually one of the most silent outdoor gas washers I have used till date. It does create some noise but it is muffled because of the use of an exhaust port as seen on cars. These guards against excessive sound. The only point I have deducted here is because the muffler is dangerously close to the hose connection, which is bad design innovation just to keep noise to a minimum.

Power: 5/5

Power is not just about the PSI generated by a pressure washer. The Generac washer actually delivers a steady 2700 PSI without any drop in volume at 2.3 GPM. In other words, it has got ample pressure for any kind of domestic requirement and a few professional uses. The upright design does not hinder the power output and when the engine is on, the actual pressure output is phenomenal. You can literally feel it.

Application: 5/5

There aren’t that many tasks the Generac 6022 cannot do. It cleans sidings, porches, front yards, garage, furniture, patio, grills, gates and so much more. In the professional world it can be used to clean commercial kitchens. In fact, because of the enormous power output and the 5 spray tips you can blast away mold without the need of any chemical solution and at the same time lather up your car directly using the pressure washer.

Durability: 4/5

Everything is great in terms of construction and durability with the Generac 6022. The only two complaints I have in this regards is that the hose is stiff and its connection port is too close to the muffler. If you somehow manage to cross over the exhaust with the hose, the excess heat generated by the exhaust is going to burn through the hose. So, be ready with a couple of hose replacements and get used to this minor design flaw. The other issue, which personally I haven’t experienced at all, is that some 6022 models tend to stall upon start-up and need to be tinkered with initially. I don’t see why this should dissuade someone from purchasing this unit because stalling isn’t a major issue and it is usually an engine problem that can be solved easily by any repair shop.

Customer Support: 3/5

Well, Generac isn’t the best in terms of customer support. They do provide every mode of communication for anyone within the US but they take a long time processing requests, orders or replacements. Having said that, I still believe they are an excellent power tool maker plus they have a lot of credibility in building engines and generators. Unfortunately, at times when you need their support, they aren’t always ready to give it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
As far as performance and power goes, the Generac 6022 has got everything right. In terms of durability it has the right frame design and other stuffs but lacks only by virtue of muffler and hose connection placement. Customer support can be a bitch at times but then again you will hardly ever require them. Generac products last really long, are easy to repair and maintain plus inexpensive to replace parts. In short, this pressure washer is a good semi-pro investment you can consider.
